Volunteer to help Yarra go solar

Join our team of Solar Ambassadors!

YEF is launching a series of programs to increase the uptake of solar energy for households in the City of Yarra. The first program is a campaign in the suburb of Richmond to encourage residents to learn about solar and potentially purchase a system YEF has selected for its quality and great price.

Did you know that only around 6% of homes in Yarra have a solar PV array? That is shockingly low. The Victorian average is 14%! One of the most effective ways to increase solar is through neighbour to neighbour conversations. Homeowners are more likely to install solar, when they get trusted advice from organisations such as YEF and see other solar homes in their area – so we have a lot of work to do!

YEF is looking for volunteers who meet the following criteria to help us spread the word:

• You have had a solar array installed and can speak about its benefits; OR,

• You are passionate and have some knowledge about solar energy;

• You have availability of a minimum of 3-4 hours a week between August 20 – October 15, 2016; and,

• You are enthusiastic and want to make a difference in Yarra.

While we would like you to have some understanding of solar energy, you do not need to be a solar expert to volunteer! Training will be provided.

To apply, email Mariela Mendoza your availability and a brief summary (max 200 words) of why you want to volunteer: hmendoza@student.unimelb.edu.au

Apply by 5pm, August 24th 2016

An information session and volunteers welcome will be held on August 24th.
