SUMMARY:Fitzroy North Community Session #1\, Tuesday — Yarra Community Battery Initiative
DESCRIPTION:This event is specifically for local residents and businesses in Fitzroy North.\nTo attend\, RSVP with your name and address to tim.shue@yef.org.au by 25 October 2021.\nUpon RSVP you will receive a Zoom link and passcode by email. Have your say by completing a 10 minute survey \nEnabling more solar and expanding access to renewable electricity is needed to reduce our community emissions to zero\, because electricity is the largest share of Yarra’s total emissions (69%). But there are new challenges facing the grid if we want to reach a zero carbon future with homes and businesses powered by all-renewable energy. \nOne of the most exciting solutions to help reduce our community’s carbon footprint is a ‘community battery’\, which works like a giant power bank to provide safe\, reliable and a more sustainable solution for shared energy storage. \nThe Yarra Energy Foundation\, a local non-profit organisation core funded by the City of Yarra\, has won a $800\,000 grant from the Victorian Government through the Neighbourhood Battery Initiative\, delivered by the Department of Environment\, Land\, Water and Planning (DELWP). \nThe project is breaking new ground on neighbourhood-scale energy storage and aims to enable neighbourhoods to rapidly reduce carbon emissions from electricity\, and in a way that is both equitable and affordable for everyone – not only solar customers. \nTo make this initiative a success\, the project team is engaging with the local community in your neighbourhood to better understand local priorities to shape the next steps in the project. To attend\, please RSVP by 25th October 2021 to tim.shue@yef.org.au with your \n\nName\nEmail\nResidential address*\n\n*This session is specifically for those in the proposed site area of the battery in Fitzroy North. \n\n\nComplete a 10 minute survey prior to the session\nFAQs on community batteries\nMore about community batteries
