Solar & Electrification

Melbourne Community Electrification Roadshow

Melbourne Community Electrification Roadshow

YEF has been awarded funding by Sustainability Victoria to coordinate the Melbourne Community Electrification Roadshow as part of the Community Electrification Engagement Program Fund.

This Victorian Government–funded program helps local communities to engage households in the shift to fully electric homes, while supporting local organisations to build knowledge, capacity, and connections in the process.

What the Roadshow is about

YEF’s role will be to coordinate a Melbourne-wide series of community events between September 2025 and April 2026. These events will focus on:

  • Explaining the benefits of home electrification (heating, cooling, hot water, cooking and vehicles).

  • Helping households access Victorian Government incentives, including the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, the SEC Electric Home Planner, and Solar Victoria rebates.

  • Providing consistent, high-quality information, while tailoring content to the needs of individual communities.

This approach supports the Fund’s aim to increase household awareness, strengthen community engagement, and accelerate the uptake of energy-efficient, all-electric living.

Why this matters

The Roadshow sits within a broader state strategy to reduce emissions and energy costs through community-level electrification. By engaging directly with households and community leaders, the project aims to:

  • Build confidence in electrification as a practical and cost-effective option.
  • Increase uptake of existing Victorian incentives and programs.
  • Strengthen community organisations’ role in driving the transition.
  • Ensure a diverse and geographically balanced spread of engagement across Melbourne
